I suppose since I started out, I've accumulated things.
So I don't need to accumulate now as a pensioner.
(I've also accumulated an occupational pension, and a hobby with some costs, but let's leave those out).
A buried assumption might be the old one that we bought a house, finished paying for it in middle years, and can now live in it, which is less true and more trouble than it used to be.
