It seems people don't understand the differences in the types of bans.
A client ban is when the developer forces an app to stop working for you. The app will just crash unexpectedly upon your ipconnecting. In nostrs case when you login to your npub & all of a sudden the app crashes & it no longer works even if you delete it & reinstall it. This is what a client ban is & that's unethical.
It's one thing to be banned at the relay level where you no longer connect it's entirely another thing when an app is forced to crash & you have no choice but to use another app. This is what people need to fight against those who want to deny your access to other relays by entirely screwing you out of your app.
A relay ban is when your connection is refused & you can't connect meaning you have to find other relays to use. This is acceptable because your not screwed out of the app & you can still use it. This is how banning is suppose to be only at the relay level.
Any developer which implements client side ban is saying fuck you go find another app. When you see developers making the csam excuse as a reason to implement this what they are saying really is. Fuck your laws & rights I don't want you to use my app I don't want you to access nostr.
It's an abuse to you they want to claim these apps are like web browsers & relays are website. You don't make a browser fuck you over & lock you out you make the website inaccessible. All they are doing by implementing client side banning is dominating you to their will abusing your freedom & privliages.
Team Soapbox has implemented client side banning in their apps. If they don't like what you do even if you're within legal right to do it they can make the app stop working for you. If these apps are considered browsers & relays are website then your right to access the internet is being abused.

Knowledge is key people pray on the fact you lack the knowledge because you've never taken your time to do research & understand that theres state, federal, & global internet laws. Your law enforcement has a department for internet laws & you can have these developers subpoena, fined, & prosecuted to the fullest extent of your countries laws. Where I live podcasters & radio host discuss how social networks are gateways to information technically the new web & how developers who create the software are the gatekeepers.
The only reason developers have gotten away with this for so long is because the public you & me the majority do not know about these internet rights or how to proceed to appropriately report these people. They will continue to act like tyrants believing theybare above the law because they made the app. They don't care if it's legal in your country or if it circumvents your rights they just want to deny you access because they don't believe what you do is right in their opinon.
Remember they will always use an excuse to abuse your freedom. Csam is a popular excuse to abuse privliage by design it's a go to scapegoat because no one will verify if it's actually a problem you will blindly accept it at face value because they use your belief of it being wrong against you.
They create the problem to justify the excuse to make the tool & they abuse your freedom without proof then label you to single you out.
I encourage you the people to be smarter & know you can hold developers accountable seek information on how to report them. They could just ban you from the relay & call it a day that's legal & acceptable you can still use the app & find other relays to connect you. What's illegal is the client side ban making the app completely unusable for you that you have to literally find another app.
