The Dodo pubs in Oxford are solid (Rusty Bicycle, Rickety Press, Up in Arms). Can recommend their cocktail menu too.
If you want quirky then the Mad Hatter does decent pizza and is... interesting. Their website is awful but you can just rock up most nights and there's often live music.
Other pubs available. Fancier dining is also possible but afraid I don't have much more than student recommendations :)
