Disabled elder here. The troubles that come from gun culture are *far* outweighed by the benefits. Guns make us equal. Without guns, the old, the weak, the small and the disabled are at the mercy of the the young, the strong, the big, and the able-bodied.

The cops won't protect us. Uvalde proved once and for all that cops are worse than useless. They're in the way.

There's a name for people who rely on police to protect them. They're called "victims." Police have no obligation to protect us. The SCOTUS agrees.

Wh protects us? We protect us. An example from my personal life:

I'm what Nazis call a "race traitor". I sleep with a Jew, the same one for 40 years as of last July.

In the 2019 GOP primary, neo-Nazi Patrick Little campaigned on a platform of Holocaust denial and ethnic cleansing. He got 1,369 votes in Alameda County, 841 in SF and 1,249 in Contra Costa. That's a lot of neo-Nazis in what most of the country considers a hotbed of leftism. And that's just the ones who voted.

More than three thousand armed men whose ideology demand the death of my wife and myself, are living within an hour's drive. Almost 90 thousand live, and voted, in California. Nearly a thousand live within walking distance. It's safe to assume that each one owns at least one firearm. It only takes one to punch our tickets. To feel even remotely safe we sleep with a scattergun next to our bed.

People who think we should disarm ourselves are beneath contempt. You can tell them I said so.

"That rifle on the wall of the labourer's cottage or working class flat is the symbol of democracy. It is our job to see that it stays there." -- George Orwell
