Central Banks do not function as they claim to: "I think Zack Polanski should ask:
1. Why is Labour allowing Bank of England to abdicate its public duties during crisis?
2. How are interest rate hikes going to deal with inflationary pressures triggered by oil shocks without inflicting massive further damage on our battered economy?
3. If inflation is not a monetary phenomenon, but a cost shock, why fight it with interest rate tools which work on chocking demand?
4. Are we dialling up the affordability crisis just so Andrew Bailey can say he’s fighting inflation with the wrong tools?
5. If this crisis requires fiscal tools/price controls - as Labour seems to be accepting - then why should the TAXPAYER bear the costs entirely, and not together w the public institution in charge of public money creation?"
