This is a huge part of why I do this community and education work. Product managers have the most soft power to influence decisions, so that we can actively choose to build the right things that are good for both the users and the world around us. It's easy to feel like our hands are tied. It's even easier to look at the work as a paycheque and stop caring.
Building shit software is a choice. Heavy dependencies on AI data centres powered by fossil fuels and polluting communities are also a choice.
It's so important to reach the people who still care. They're out there in the most corporate of spaces.
But even I'm getting disillusioned.
