Today I started noting down the main rhythm part of #meshuggah 's Straws pulled at random on paper in the hope of finding some pattern that makes the song easier to learn and tbh while doing so there was a pretty strong sense of "oh god why am I doing this to myself" ... especially seeing not just variations involving quarter notes VS dotted eight notes, but also notes lasting 5 16th notes (e.g. a quarter note with a 16th bounded on)
