It is annoying to me that Arch, Nix, Guix, and Portage are four different package formats. Since they're all instructions for building source, it seems to me they should be one format, or else there should be a format that can "compile" to the other four.
(NOTE TO PERSON LINKING ME THE XKCD "NOW THERE ARE FIVE FORMATS" STRIP: Yes, that is my proposal. I am proposing creating a fifth format. On purpose.)
