would also help to know how many assisted living places there are for people of that age - many who can't be released from hospital to their own homes could go to something like that. My mother-in-law has just permanently moved into one, which she chose, but at least she didn't have to be in hospital before making that decision. For those like her, who had several falls in the last year, some causing injury, but mainly meaning she needed someone to help her get back up, it is ideal.
