Two facts about Swedish #humanities #academia.
1. The number of positions offered on PhD programmes is wildly over-dimensioned to the labour market's demand: a Humanities PhD only counts as a qualification in academia itself.
2. 60-70% of everyone at all faculties who have the title "professor" in Sweden is employed at the department where they were a PhD student.
Students are making irrational career choices. Employers are hiring their buddies.
