This.Freaking.Book! I am speechless! Part horror, part historical fiction- it weaves Gullah Geechee culture and language along with Black folktales into a story of vengeance. Told in a southern Black dialect, it tells the story of Maryse and her friends hunting Ku Kluxers who are different from just Klan members, but are actual monsters. Not a long book and not easy to read, it will definitely stay with me for a long time. Major trigger warnings for racism, hate crimes, gore.
