Bitcoin’s seven-day average hashrate has returned above 1 zettahash per second, crossing that threshold for the first time since March 3. The network was measuring 1,080.23 exahashes per second on October 25, after a difficulty adjustment at block height 971,712. The recovery comes even as several major mining companies redirect equipment and capital toward artificial intelligence and other high-performance computing projects.
More efficient next-generation ASICs and smaller, solo, or privately held operators appear to be compensating for that shift. However, the recovery does not mean mining conditions are easy: hashprice has fallen to $36.04 per petahash per second per day from $40.42 a month earlier, while mining difficulty rose 5.92%. The combination is tightening margins, particularly for smaller operators, even as the hashrate indicates continued resilience in Bitcoin’s security network.
