I think she may be referring to the fact Poe was outspoken about well established authors stealing ideas from unknown artists earlier in his life. He faced the same accusations himself later in life for his poem The Raven, which bore similarities to others work.

It's basically 19th century inter-office politics. Also smells like the narcissism of small differences.
