Eleven years ago someone tossed the cat we call Tabby out of a car down in the gap past Home Farm. It’s far from any house, and she just stayed right in that area meowing pitifully until we scooped her up.
We (primarily K) convinced me father to take her in. He was not a big fan of cats, but also unable to say ‘no’ to K. Few people can. Then he got quite fond of her. Cat treats were spotted in his kitchen. They lived happily together until he passed, two crabby bitches who reached an understanding. So - That sorta makes her my sister?
Now my son lives in that house, and is very solicitous in taking care of Tabby. Switched her to 'senior’ food recently. While he’s out of town working, I take care of her. Which makes her my - grandcat? That is how I came to be hunched over scampering around the yard at Home Farm a few minutes ago, trying to catch her. She did not want to be caught. Two crabby bitches, yada-yada. Rosalie wanted to 'help’, which very much wasn’t helping. One of us won that confrontation.
It’s a cool, mild night. The crickets and katydids are still singing, as we have not yet had frost. Maybe next weekend.
