ten to fifteen years ago i was really into rocket stoves. i *like* playing with fires so a fire that needed a little tending every 15 minutes was just fine. putting a flue out the wall and measuring that at 30°C, while the internal chimney is 500°C is pretty great. there's lots of ways to build them and it's pretty easy to lug a bunch of bricks somewhere and build one to demonstrate the concept.
