A whole chicken is CD$17 at my grocery store this week. Stewing hen, however, CD$5.67. So instead of roast chicken this week we will have homemade chicken soup with rice and vegetables. Stock has been simmering for a couple hours now, and the house smells amazing.
I suspect more spontaneous meal planning changes midshop in the future, thanks to sticker shock.
$17 for a chicken. Oof.
