So just so we're all clear, Hanukkah is a zionist holiday. There is no way shape or form in which it can not be a zionist holiday. It's a hundred percent about us living as Jews in Israel. No it doesn't mean celebrating it means you agree with everything our government is doing, but if you celebrate it or know others who do and you don't see the connection, that's pure cultural ignorance.
The candles represent the days lived in a cave while hiding from the Romans who are also the reason my family had been taken as Jewish slaves into Rome.
