first example that comes to mind is `cl:with-open-file`, which desugars into `unwind-protect (progn body ...) (close-file)`, but this can be solved alternatively with `call-with-input-file` from scheme, and uses higher order functions instead.

so if you have a suspicion that HOF do not get inlined properly, then macros are the alternate tool.
