Farming is back breaking work.
I fear some ppl's experience with farming is going to a pumpkin or strawberry patch in the fall, once, and "picking their own" as a social event.
Add in, how many acres it'd take to produce a meaningful crop, how much water/pest control it'd take, and if everyone was in a dire situation, what would stop someone else stealing from you or vandalizing it?
