As for asking questions - yes!!!! Our human communications, even in best of circumstances, are filled with ambiguities or flat out mis-understandings.
When I was in law school - and when I'm on a board of directors - I ask questions until I am satisfied. (Some people get upset when I do this.) It often turns out that a dispute is not a dispute at all but merely a mis-comphrension of meaning.
