The Chinese are extremely good at staying Chinese for generations in the diaspora. But though my daughter looks like her mother, she speaks very little Chinese and is culturally a mainstream member of the Swedish middle class. It would surprise me if she married a Chinese-speaking man. More likely my wife will be remembered 100 years from now as the single Chinese ancestor of a bunch of unusually handsome vanilla Swedes.
