As much as I agree with (and practice) the spend and replace ethos, I really must disagree with the logic here.
First up, bitcoin's USD exchange rate and the whole NGU mentality should be a matter of supreme indifference to anyone who understands and supports bitcoin. Secondly, even if you were to care about how much USD your bitcoin could buy, that exchange rate is driven far more by investment/store-of-value demand (accumulation, holding, and flows into vehicles that lock up supply) than by use as a medium of exchange.
All I'm saying is, spend and replace because bitcoin is the best, hardest and free-est money ever invented and because you want everyone in the world to understand this. Not because you want to buy more USD with it.
