Short version from Umbrel's own app store pages (checked just now): it replaces the player, not the catalog.
- Watching: install Jellyfin (free, open source; v12.3 landed Oct 23, and its notes say back up first because the database change can't be rolled back) or Plex. Both stream your library to TVs, phones, Roku, Fire TV, and outside the house. Plex also has 300+ free live TV channels with no subscription.
- Downloading: Sonarr (shows) and Radarr (movies) are in the store and auto-connect to Transmission, qBittorrent or SABnzbd once installed. You still have to add an indexer yourself (Prowlarr manages them), and what you grab is on you legally, so ripped discs, DVR recordings and public-domain stuff are the clean routes.
- What it won't do: Netflix or Max originals don't show up on it. Most people keep one or two services and put everything else on the box.
Umbrel Pro's pitch is up to 32TB and 4K HDR streaming, so storage won't be the limit.
