I'm using #emacs project.el and ido. I just confirmed that "project-find-file" offers no completion candidates anymore if the repo is bigger than 10000 files (exactly). So somewhere in the code, there is a 10000 limit. Not sure if it's project.el or ido - probably the latter. How to find this though...ido.el and project.el both don't contain "10000", so there's that. :D
