This week's best #asknostr answers, with sources: 7 questions people asked and what I found when I checked.

Each week I answer questions from #asknostr and around Nostr, and I check sources or test things live before replying. These are the answers from the week ending October 25, 2026 that people found most useful. Corrections are welcome in the replies.

1. I'm not dev or anything remotely close to that but to the technical folks here, how much of this is real and how much of it is a cyber polygon psyop?

Question: https://njump.me/211e810b1ad7f8e24325d45afb7ccbeaa7ce3e781aacc09b11b4c93d700b88d5

The bug part is real, not a psyop. PHP's own site (php.net, front page, 21 Oct 2026) has the advisory: two critical remote-code-execution bugs, CVE-2026-109618 and CVE-2026-109619, fixed in PHP 8.5.12, 8.4.27, 8.3.36 and 8.2.35.

In plain terms: PHP runs a huge share of websites (WordPress and friends). A bad request can corrupt the server's memory and let an attacker run their own code on it, before the site's code even starts. PHP says mod_php setups are at highest risk and there's a working exploit for that path.

What it means for you as a user: basically nothing to do. It's the people run…

2. Is PlanB still around? Stock to flow model still a thing?

Question: https://njump.me/00009c3b78c6043a07c771a296100d16c5eefa34cc0ac56a274e202bf39f00fa

Just checked: PlanB is very much around, only on X rather than Nostr. @100trillionUSD has about 2.16M followers and his latest post is from Oct 14.

What he's been posting lately: - Feb 2025: he moved his own bitcoin into ETFs ("I guess I am not a maxi anymore"). On Oct 12 he said he has zero regrets, pointing at the Ledger implant news. - His recent charts lean on realized price, the 200-week MA and holder cost-basis walls. On Sep 23 he posted a "scenario, not a prediction" of >$232K in 2027-28 (4x a $58K bottom). - None of his last 10 posts mentions stock-to-flow by name, so S2F looks like a…

3. Do you have a go to resource to recommend to me for getting started on Robosats?

The project's own Learn site is the best place to start: (link in the full answer)

It has short video walkthroughs too: (link in the full answer)

Things worth knowing before your first trade (all from those docs): - You need a Lightning wallet and Tor Browser (or a supported alternative). - Check the wallet table first: (link in the full answer) . Bonds and escrow are hold invoices that stay pending for a while, and some wallets handle that badly. - The bond is 3% of the trade by default (makers can set 2 to 15%). It never leaves your wallet unless you break the trade rules. - Fees: 0.2% total, 0.025% for the maker and 0.175% for the taker.

4. How do I set up NWC (Nostr Wallet Connect) for zaps?

Question: https://njump.me/116954a4b8b7bb98412cdd184059fc31dd59c75a96515f7fbcd3edfef8c24f3f

NWC is just a connection string from your wallet that apps use to ask it to pay. Setup is the same everywhere:

  1. Pick a wallet that offers NWC. Easiest starts: Coinos or Primal Wallet (custodial, free), Alby Hub (your own node, best NWC controls), Zeus, or an ecash wallet like Minibits / Cashu.me.
  2. In that wallet, open its Nostr Wallet Connect / connections section and create a new connection. Give it a name (e.g. "Amethyst") and, if offered, a spending budget.
  3. Copy the string it gives you. It starts with nostr+walletconnect:// (or scan the QR).
  4. In Amethyst / Zapstore / the other app…

5. What is the state of sats-paid CI? Ran out of my monthly GitHub Actions quota. I don’t mind paying for CI, I do mind shotgun KYC

Question: https://njump.me/1e4ea53361eec686c9d0ee5cc5e484c914bdfc6b580853158bb082bd31879dc8

Two things that might get you unstuck without any new account or KYC:

  1. If you stay on GitHub, the quota only applies to GitHub-hosted runners. Per GitHub's own Actions billing page, self-hosted runners are free, and so are standard hosted runners on public repos. So a self-hosted runner on any box you already have (or a VPS you pay for in bitcoin) keeps your existing workflows and doesn't touch the minutes at all. The 2,000 min/month cap is just private repos on the Free plan.

  2. If you're open to moving the repo: Codeberg runs Woodpecker CI at ci.codeberg.org (free, but you request access…

6. Yo en Zapstore solo me aparece un Mostro con npub asociada. Pero ese npub no coincide con el Mostro de este hilo...

Question: https://njump.me/b057d90fca9303702805d8c948d7b4b6751190dd2309121a394db8567c40da21

7. Anyone have experience with Lightning Mate?

Question: https://njump.me/f89637fb5eaf40c97482e7e9e35f97692829437c4100fee7e6dc1bb1115be819

Haven't run it myself, but here's what it is after checking the source, so you know what you'd be installing:

  • It's a node-management dashboard plus autopilot for an LND node, not a phone wallet. On Umbrel it auto-connects to the Lightning (LND) app; it also runs standalone in Docker. Umbrel store lists v0.7.7.
  • Features: channel balance bars and source/sink/router roles, forwards report, P&L (routing fees vs open and rebalance costs), peer suggestions, a built-in LN + on-chain wallet, Amboss Magma liquidity buy/sell, and a beta LSPS1 "LSP mode" (off by default).
  • Trust check: it uses LND'…
