As you get older, it becomes obvious that everyone actually gets a few temporary “windows of opportunity,” to kickstart your career with strong momentum, to get married to the right person and raise children who redefine your perspective, to earn financial freedom and finally pursue your true interests, to truly connect with your parents and understand where you come from, to build a meaningful friendship with a total stranger, to move abroad and relearn who you could be; and the people who manage to make the most of these “lucky” periods where the stars seem to align tend to share the same traits: the courage to pursue the scary or uncomfortable paths, the playfulness that comes from not taking yourself too seriously, the wisdom to not get greedy and too quick to judge, the self-belief to strive for more ambitious goals, and the intelligence to learn as if you know nothing.
