The European Union is pausing negotiations on a UK/EU reset while the UK considers a demand that for there to be a closer relationship, the UK would need to (re)start making a major contribution to the EU budget.
Keir Starmer, has been trying to get some time with European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen to discuss this issue, but has been rebuffed at least twice due to 'scheduling issues';
just in case you thought the EU was prioritising re-engagment with the UK.
