It is obvious that this damage control step is only aimed to appease voters in the US who are absolutely not amused that Trump has openly taking Putin’s side. Not only Ukraine and its people enjoy having the absolute majority in the US on its side, but also and even more US Americans overwhelmingly hate Putin and his regime. Trump and his acolytes can hardly ignore this fact.
