In case anyone is interested in trying this, I would give you instructions but I'm no expert.

I just drew hearts around the holes with an 8B pencil (I should get tailor's chalk at some point), used an embroidery ring that came with my sewing machine to keep the fabric tight, then went all in with doubled regular sewing thread that I already had from a previous project.
