I agree that this is very troubling but does the source suggest what this reduction in the proportion of lending to SMEs represents?
Is it that banks are no longer seeing SMEs as a good risk so actively withdrawing or that SMEs are not wanting to borrow / invest in the current economic environment or, indeed, whether the volume of lending to larger enterprises has swollen disproportionately because they *are* investing more or profit-taking?
