I have always read that making APE (actually portable executable format from cosmopolitan
https://github.com/jart/cosmopolitan) with zig was not possible but I just gave fable a few hours with it and he just did a working PoC, including even some of zig's comptime stuff to show that it was properly handled. I'll look into the details of its findings soon.
