We are now nearly 48 hours since I initially notified the owner of monero.jobs (Yannick Eckl, https://x.com/CR1337) about core functionality of his site being broken for me, with neither a response nor a fix. I did try to make a dummy Test Job listing to troubleshoot, while also informing the owner in the hopes of it getting approved (since job postings need to be reviewed before appearing publicly) but it remains in limbo after roughly 24 hours of being made.
To be clear, somebody wants a job done and is willing to pay in XMR, and I want to take it, but I simple can't. On the basis of this, I think it's safe to say monero.jobs is no longer fit for purpose, if it ever was.
I don't know this for a fact, but I feel pretty confident Mr. Eckl is the sole staff member running the site, and he pays attention to it, its users, and any issues it has at his own convenience and nobody else's. The last time somebody reported a total website breakdown to him in June, it similarly took him 2 days to respond and fix it.
The impression I'm getting here is that Mr. Eckl is some kind of entrepreneurial jackdaw... he spins up projects and ideas when they seem new and fun and interesting, but eventually drops them for other, newer, more interesting ideas when he either gets bored or the work becomes harder and more involved than he realized.
In the case of monero.jobs, this is a terrible waste of a good concept. A freelancer platform where people are expected to do business with each other needs to be properly maintained by a team who can respond to issues promptly and get the wheels turning again as quickly as possible. No matter how shiny the vibe-coded front page is, if fundamental shit breaks down and everybody has to wait around for days until the one guy running the damn thing can get around to fixing it, nobody is going to fucking use it.
