I've been thinking. Maybe it's time to stop. To forgive some things, forget others, and simply let the rest go.
I suppose I'm getting old. And that's what growing old does to you. It makes you think too much, especially about the things you've spent your whole life trying not to understand.
Maybe I'm just tired. Or worse, maybe I've finally understood. There's a third possibility, perhaps the most terrible of all: that the things which once meant so much to me no longer mean anything at all.
Sad, isn't it?
To realize that the clock doesn't collect time. It never did. Quite the opposite. It takes it away, silently, second by second, keeping count of whatever little we have left.
And everything, absolutely everything, is bound to end.
It's a thought that should frighten me. Strangely enough, it doesn't. There's something mysteriously comforting about that certainty. As if, after searching for answers for so long, I've finally found some peace in the very things I cannot change.
In the end, it all reminds me of something terribly simple: smile and be kind.
And so, I hereby declare the beginning of every end.
Oh, and enjoy your journey. I'm sure we'll cross paths somewhere along the way. If not now, perhaps when there's a little more time.
