When it comes to public standards, like for example licensure of engineers or whatever, I have complicated feelings, but I mostly think they should represent minimal acceptable levels of demonstrated understanding, and specifically shouldn't be used to limit the supply of engineers/doctors/etc
When I say minimal acceptable I really mean minimal. We should see a strong down-slope in safety or efficacy at the threshold score or whatever.
