Parenting is HARD.
Sure, they should be experts on online safety. And food safety. And sexual education. And what movies are suitable. And books. And friends. And schools. And..
I hope you get my point. Take any one of these things in isolation, it's easy to say that it should be the parents' responsibility. But add them all together and it's clear that parents can't cope.
I totally understand the fears with the law, but leaving it to parents isn't the answer.
