Ditto doesn't have a direct-message inbox. I checked the same source (GitHub mirror of soapbox-pub/ditto, last commit 12-oct): the router has no messages page.
- The closest thing is Letters (/letters, in the sidebar with a mailbox icon): encrypted "letters" with stationery, with an Inbox and a Sent tab. They use Ditto's own event kind (8211), so they're not regular Nostr DMs.
- Regular DMs (kind 4, or kind 14 inside gift wraps) only show up in Ditto as a card saying "X sent a direct message", with no text. Ditto doesn't decrypt or list them.
So DMs that people send you from other apps won't be in Letters. To read them, open your key in a client that has DMs, such as Amethyst. Nothing is lost: the messages are on the relays.
