"content": "A month ago I mixed compost into the soil in my 30 gallon fabric growing bags and planted a winter cover crop of winter rye and hairy vetch. I’m always amazed that these seeds can germinate and grow in the cold.\n\nHairy vetch is a legume and fixes nitrogen in the soil. I’ll compost and/or dig these plants back into the soil next May.\n\nI think the first photo is the winter rye and the second that has redish highlights and more of a spiral wrap is the hairy vetch.\n\n#Gardening #CoverCrop #Compost\nhttps://cdn.masto.host/rubysocial/media_attachments/files/115/554/113/239/951/128/original/045da1f717125cdc.jpeg\nhttps://cdn.masto.host/rubysocial/media_attachments/files/115/554/113/254/233/791/original/b4d2ca546b8d7cb7.jpeg\nhttps://cdn.masto.host/rubysocial/media_attachments/files/115/554/113/304/954/078/original/5926e52a0c625c1c.jpeg\n",
