This is partly an example of Pournelle's Law in practice, more generally the agent-principle problem.

Once the Left captured the studio, just "listening" to someone interested in the quality and profitability of the games would get you fired and canceled from the industry.

More generally, what on earth makes people think this was about money vs. power beside the economic man fallacy? Leftists focus on the latter, and don't tend to have long time horizons, here a concern this would put their studio out of business. Cultural power ... now that's something ___overwhelming___ as we can see trying to live in a world made by them. Especially white collar workers.

On the other hand, these things often, if not generally fail to win enough hearts and minds, which is why the DSA et. al. are in the violent coup planning and early exercises process. The Left in the US already uses soft terror like cancellation, with hard examples like Charlie Kirk, but since they realized the US population didn't support their position on the Vietnam War they've been setting themselves up for the hard option.

Might also be worried that the building counter-reaction, and how the legacy American younger generations are building up larger and larger right wing cohorts. Trump 2.0 is also working against this WRT to legal and illegal immigration, hurting the "elect a new people" option that we can see in action right now in France.

So I wonder if the smarter ones believe they have to act soon or they'll miss their chance for the foreseeable future.
