North #American #zoning has strict separation of residential uses from industrial and commerical ones. We normally think about the #traffic this generates just trying to do trips to things that should be local services within walking distance, which is a real problem.
But the most tragic irony is that this system forces families in small cars to mix in the same traffic lanes as giant industrial vehicles. By separating the land, they've mixed the #transport system in terrifying and deadly ways.
