Anthropic’s real S-1 signal is revenue density
Anthropic’s S-1 puts a striking metric beside its 1,368% year-over-year revenue growth: inference revenue per megawatt rose from about $16 million last year to more than $60 million currently. SemiAnalysis also estimates revenue per dollar of compute is up 5.2 times since Q1 2025, with incremental gross margins near 90%.
That reframes infrastructure from a support cost into a potentially more productive asset. But revenue per megawatt is not profit. Anthropic’s presentation may combine inference and training costs, while cloud marketplace sales are reportedly recorded gross with partner fees separated.
The open issue is accounting and scope: after training, cloud, networking, employee and model-development costs are allocated consistently, how much of that apparent operating leverage remains?
