When you start smelling what might be ethyl acetate, but it clearly isn't coming from you, you walk around sniffing until you find the source.

Someone in a lab down the hall was spray painting something for a pumpkin for a halloween thing. And left the wet items on a sheet in the middle of the lab, near the door to the hallway (all doors are open during the day). They had access to a chemical fume hood and just decided to live with the VOCs?!?!

I had to put on my cranky pants and tell them that I could smell it from down the hall (and across the hallway) in my own lab and could they please, please put whatever it was in a fume hood. I don't like being the lab grouch, but come on people!
