I just glanced at the first couple of pages, I gather his position is that the pursuit of scientific progress inevitably leads to totalitarianism.
The evolution of the internet (and decentralized social media) basically proves that wrong.
But I would CONCUR with him, but for a different reason : >90% of all publicly funded research work is masturbation and waste, and defunding it would save resources AND free up scientists to pursue more meaningful research than what is funded.
