Self-custody is far from dead, but is still incredibly hard to get right. I had Lloyd Fournier from Frostsnap on to explain the fatal flaw in bad random number generation and why it leaves your stack completely exposed. We talked about how Frostsnap fixes this by using Shamir secret sharing. And then we started looking at alternative cryptography. It turns out BLS signatures might completely remove the need for randomness in the first place, fixing one of our biggest blind spots.
If you hold your own keys, and want to survive the next Colcard-like event, listen to the full conversation and start rethinking your security assumptions.
