Based on reports from various sources and news outlets, as well as images released over the past week, it appears that the United States has deployed a full battery of the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) anti-ballistic missile system at its Fifth Fleet naval base in Bahrain. This configuration includes an AN/TPY-2 early-warning and tracking radar, six to eight eight-cell launchers—with a total capacity of 48 to 64 interceptor missiles—along with an additional 128 interceptor missiles.
