For Lightning the equivalent is asking your own wallet instead of the chain: with Nostr Wallet Connect (NIP-47) you call `lookup_invoice` on the payment hash, or subscribe to the wallet's `payment_received` notifications (kind 23196) and react when the invoice settles.
