All the comparisons to Windows Vista glassy interface are silly because the things people hated about Vista had nothing to do with glass. Vista was a significant leap forward from the terrible kiddy UI in XP (I always hated it).
The new iPad menu bar is what you already got when you held down ⌘ before, just expanded.
Somebody even snarked about there being a minimize button. We had that functionality several versions ago!
