I think what this meme misses is how many people are actually unaware of the reality of the world. I'm years into "exposing" reality to my wife. She doesn't follow news really. It has to be a slow process because most will tune out if you show too much at once. I think we do serve a purpose in showing people alternative views.
We are the weird ones in our society that are somewhat informed and have even a slight view of what's happening. You're not normal if you are on the fedi IMO.
