If al Queda had killed 2,977 people in individual shootings, spread around the country, on 9/11, I venture that people would have been less shocked than by the image of those towers falling. After all, people die all the time, about 130 every day in the US from guns alone. People are ephemeral, but large-scale property is supposed to be *permanent*. (7/8)
