today I found out my city has an adaptive gym for people with disabilities. You do an application and your doctor does one and the trainers sit down and help you come up with an exercise plan that works toward your goals but takes into account your limitations and they have specific things to help with balance. That's one area where i need to work on and they have equipment here I don't have. So I started the process. It is 50 bucks a month and it seems reasonable for a gym membership. The one thing I'm kind of being anxious about is i don't want to discuss diet, diet drugs, calorie counting meal planning any of that. It has been my experience that fitness people tend to be very poor at respecting the boundaries of people with disabilities and also that they really love to judge and bitch at you for what you eat and how you eat and so I have made the decision that I'm going to tell them that these topics I'm not willing to discuss and if they disrespect my boundaries then I'm out. It's comforting to know that I have a plan and I might not even need it. They might not even say anything, but history tells me that I at least need to be prepared that this is a discussion they are going to want to have and then I am going to flat out refused to participate in. So, wish me luck!
