carrying on from number 34, honestly, the next part of the plan is to shave it down until it fits my hand and can't possibly survive the pressure of the twelve strings.
.
It was already dead, and if I was trying to fix it for somebody else, I wouldn't have done the trimming that I already have, if it can't work for me, I'll be happy enough to chop this neck out and up - you see, the thing is, I just looked at my bolt-on neck and it's TINY. That one is maybe one inch thick and this one is one and half at this point, I'm pretty sure I'll reach the truss rod slot long before I get this one down to one inch thick.
.
I might settle for one and a quarter to keep the original look and a bit of that will be the front, the fretboard - the one on the little neck has gotten very thin, partly why it's so small - but I don't see how this real neck can ever be as small and lovely as the bolt on, plywood looking one. This is some idiot form of due diligence, but I really want the other neck.
.
So that's the plan, carry on with this until I break it, then do the other thing, even if it has to be the hard way. I can soak the new fretboard off and then sand my way to the joint through the old one which was not coming off that way.
.
Between trying to get the old one off the nice way and now, I've discovered I own an electric sander, it may turn out I used it on the wrong end. 😜
.
EDIT TO ADD:
I mean, it’s a slim chance but if it does survive and work this way, what an ultimate guitar it will be!
I’m shooting for the stars, but I’ll be happy enough to crash on the moon. 💜
